Bayer’s $2 Billion RoundUp Settlement Will Cover Future Claims

A settlement was filed in early February that allows for future lawsuits to be resolved.  According to Bayer’s news release, the settlement will establish a fund that will pay between $5,000 and $200,000 to future plaintiffs who allege they developed cancer from glyphosate use.  The settlement funds will be available for four years.

Bayer will also create an advisory science panel as well as research and diagnostic programs…all of which is intended to provide further closure to the Monsanto RoundUp litigation.

At the same time, Bayer continues to maintain that glyphosate is safe.  They also seem to regularly point out that the EPA and many other regulatory agencies support glyphosate’s continued use.  Bayer has announced no plans to stop the sale and production of its carcinogenic weed killer.
